Huskies Down Mansfield 6-0 in Field Hockey

MANSFIELD —Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) and Jamie Vanartsdalen (Philadelphia/Lower Moreland) scored two goals each to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Mansfield University Wednesday afternoon.

The Huskies got on the board just 2:13 into the game when Van Artsdalen scored unassisted for a 1-0 lead. Heckard scored both her goals in the first half, the first coming at the 20 minute mark with the second coming 13 minutes later. In between, Noelle Fuller (Mountaintop/Crestwood) also scored for the Huskies.

In the second half, All-American Kristi Ney (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) scored with 20 minutes to play before Vanartsdalen finished with goal with less than three minutes to play.

Bloomsburg's All-American goalie Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped five shots to earn the win.

The Huskies go to 10-1, 6-1 in the PSAC with the win, while Mansfield falls to 3-9, 2-5 in the PSAC. With the win coach Jan Hutchinson moved to within five wins of 1,500 for her career (combined between field hockey and softball).

Bloomsburg visits Millersville on Saturday.
